CHOP OPERATOR
WAGE: $29.73/HOUR
TRAIN ON 1ST OR 2ND- MAY REMAIN ON 2ND OR MOVE TO 3RD
ROTATING SCHEDULE CAN INCLUDE WEEKENDS
Summary: Primary responsibility of the Grease/Chop Plant Operator is separating water, gelatin, and solid contents following the production of gelatin to prepare biproducts for sale.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Observes safety and security procedures; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
- Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality.
- Unloads, stores (in cooler), sets out, and chops skins.
- Rakes skins out of cookers.
- Records data onto production forms.
- Runs spent skins from the cookers over the static screener.
- Pumps skimmings through the Rotosieve into tanks.
- Adjusts pH levels with sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide.
- Drains and decants.
- Monitors PR silo and Skimming Tank levels.
- Performs sanitation of skin chop room and equipment.
- Starts up, shuts down, and completes CIP of Tricanter.
- Starts up, operates, shuts down and completes sanitation of Separator.
- Packages 50 lb. bags or 1600 kg super sacs of cracklings.
- Runs Rotovac screener to remove water from filtrate.
- Starts up, operates, and shuts down DAF system.
- Performs cleaning and sanitation procedures.
- Follows all food safety procedures and practices to promote our food safety culture.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- 1-3 years related experience and/or training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Manufacturing experience
- Material handling equipment experience
