Electrical Engineer – Embedded Systems

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join a local Dubuque manufacturers' growing engineering team. In this role, you will play a key part in designing and supporting both new and existing electronic products. From initial concept through production and post-launch support, you'll have hands-on involvement in every phase of the product lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment and enjoys working on a diverse range of projects across embedded hardware and software design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Lead the end-to-end design of embedded systems including requirements definition, component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, and embedded firmware development.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Create and evaluate functional prototypes. Perform verification and validation testing to ensure product quality, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Software Development: Write and debug embedded software using C/C++ for microcontrollers and processors.
  • Documentation and Production: Prepare and maintain technical documentation including design specifications, test procedures, and production manuals. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to transition products to mass production.
  • Sustaining Engineering: Provide technical support for existing products. Implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve legacy systems.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with embedded systems development, including C/C++ programming
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout using industry-standard tools
  • Ability to write clear, concise technical documentation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
