GARDEN CENTER RETAIL SUPPORT
WEEKDAYS AND WEEKENDS
PAY $13/HOUR
LOCATION: CEDAR RAPIDS, IA

Job Summary: We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Garden Center Support and Retail Associate to join our team. This position will involve assisting customers, maintaining garden center displays, stocking inventory, and providing expert advice on plant care and gardening products. The ideal candidate should have a love for plants and gardening, a friendly and approachable demeanor, and a willingness to contribute to a positive customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Customer Service:
    • Greet and assist customers with their garden and plant-related needs.
    • Offer recommendations and advice on plant care, gardening tools, fertilizers, and other related products.
    • Provide information about seasonal plant care, gardening techniques, and landscaping ideas.
  2. Product Knowledge:
    • Stay informed about the latest products, trends, and gardening solutions.
    • Ensure proper labeling and signage for all products within the garden center.
    • Assist with plant identification and problem-solving for customer gardening challenges.
  3. Inventory and Stocking:
    • Assist in receiving, organizing, and stocking new inventory, including plants, soil, fertilizers, garden tools, and outdoor decor.
    • Maintain clean, organized, and attractive product displays to encourage sales.
    • Monitor inventory levels and report low stock or out-of-stock items to the supervisor.
  4. Maintenance and Cleanliness:
    • Ensure that the garden center is clean, organized, and safe for both customers and staff.
    • Water plants and maintain proper care of the plants within the garden center.
    • Assist in the upkeep of outdoor areas, including weeding, pruning, and general landscape maintenance.
  5. Sales and Checkout:
    • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system, process transactions, and handle customer payments.
    • Promote special offers, loyalty programs, and seasonal promotions to drive sales.
  6. Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with team members to ensure the garden center operates efficiently.
    • Assist in the setup of special events or seasonal displays and promotions.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure product availability and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Previous experience in retail, customer service, or gardening (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of plants, gardening tools, and outdoor products.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Physical ability to lift and move inventory as needed.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Working Hours:
  • Part-time or full-time positions available.
  • Weekend and holiday availability may be required, especially during peak seasons.
