Quality Control Technician & Team Lead (Food Production)
Locations: Monroe WI area & Stephenson County IL
Shift: 1st Shift
  • WI Location: Monday–Thursday 6:00am–4:30pm (OT Fridays as needed)
  • IL Location:9:00am-6:00pm
  • Pay: $16.00 – $23.00+/hr depending on experience and leadership background
Summary: A local employer is seeking Quality Control Technicians with strong leadership skills and previous team lead experience to support food safety, regulatory compliance, and overall product quality within a food production environment. These roles are responsible for monitoring production processes, conducting inspections and testing, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure quality standards are met
  • Collect product samples and conduct microbiological, chemical, and physical testing
  • Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, FDA/USDA regulations, SQF, ISO standards, and other food safety requirements
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, test results, deviations, and corrective actions
  • Investigate quality concerns, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Support internal and external audits and regulatory inspections
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues and maintain consistency
  • Train and support production staff on food safety, quality standards, and proper handling procedures
  • Lead and support QA technicians in daily quality operations (lead-level role)
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field preferred
  • 1–3 years of food manufacturing quality control experience (Technician level)
  • 3–5+ years of food manufacturing or QA experience with 1–2+ years of leadership preferred (Lead level)
  • Strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and food safety regulations
  • Experience using laboratory equipment and conducting quality testing
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • HACCP, SQF, or related certifications are a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a production environment
