We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laser Operator with SolidWorks expertise to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating laser cutting machines, interpreting technical drawings, and utilizing SolidWorks to design and prepare cutting files for production. The position requires a blend of hands-on technical ability, design experience, and proficiency in CAD software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Laser Cutting Operations:
- Operate laser cutting machines (e.g., CO2, fiber laser) to cut, etch, and engrave materials based on customer specifications and design requirements.
- Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain the equipment to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Perform quality checks on finished products to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Set up, calibrate, and adjust laser machines for optimal performance.
- SolidWorks Design & CAD Support:
- Use SolidWorks to create and modify CAD models and drawings based on project requirements.
- Prepare and optimize cutting files for laser cutting machines (e.g., converting SolidWorks models into DXF, SVG, or other compatible formats).
- Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to translate product designs into cutting-ready files.
- Perform design modifications and revisions as necessary to improve manufacturability or optimize production processes.
- Production Support & Collaboration:
- Work closely with other operators, engineers, and production staff to ensure smooth workflow and meet project deadlines.
- Assist with production planning, material selection, and process optimization.
- Follow safety protocols, maintain a clean work area, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Material Handling:
- Manage materials required for laser cutting, including sheet metal, plastic, and other substrates.
- Ensure efficient nesting of parts on materials to minimize waste and reduce costs.
- Track inventory of raw materials and components as needed.
- Quality Assurance:
- Inspect and measure parts post-cutting to ensure they meet the specified tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and tools to keep them in top condition.
- Document and report production outcomes, identifying areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Technical degree or certification in CAD design, engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a laser operator or in a similar role within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and experience in creating and editing CAD files for laser cutting.
- Experience with various laser cutting systems (CO2, fiber laser, etc.) is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with file conversion and post-processing techniques for CNC machinery.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Good understanding of materials and laser cutting technology.
- Basic mechanical skills for machine setup, calibration, and maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
