BINDERY OPERATOR
1ST SHIFT
WAGE $18-$20/HOUR
As a Bindery Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating bindery equipment such as folders, cutters, stitchers, perfect binders, and other finishing machines to produce high-quality printed materials. You will ensure that all jobs are completed efficiently, accurately, and on schedule while adhering to safety standards and quality control measures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set Up and Operate Bindery Equipment: Set up and run machines for binding, folding, cutting, trimming, and other finishing tasks based on job specifications.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products for consistency, quality, and proper alignment. Ensure materials meet customer specifications.
- Machine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on bindery equipment and troubleshoot minor issues to ensure smooth operation.
- Job Preparation: Prepare materials for binding, including gathering printed sheets, arranging signatures, and verifying job tickets.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any issues that arise during production, such as machine malfunctions, paper jams, or quality defects.
- Production Coordination: Work closely with the production team to meet job deadlines and ensure efficient workflow.
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of binding supplies (such as glue, thread, or paper) and alert supervisors when materials need to be reordered.
- Documentation: Maintain production logs, report any issues, and track the status of jobs.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (or relevant experience).
- Previous experience in a print shop or bindery setting preferred.
- Familiarity with various bindery machines, such as folders, cutters, stitchers, and perfect binders.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow job specifications.
- Basic mechanical skills and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
