Purpose / Summary

Operate and maintain the paint line to apply coatings to products according to quality standards, while meeting production targets, ensuring safety, and minimizing waste.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

  • Set up, adjust, and operate painting equipment (spray guns, conveyors, booths, dryers, etc.)

  • Prepare surfaces for paint: cleaning, masking, masking removal, sanding, blasting or pretreatment as required

  • Mix and match paint materials (primers, topcoats, thinners) according to specifications

  • Monitor paint application (thickness, coverage, uniformity) and adjust parameters (pressure, nozzle angle, etc.)

  • Manage loading/unloading of parts or assemblies (hang on line, attach fixtures, remove from line)

  • Conduct in-process inspections; identify and document defects (runs, sags, overspray, coverage issues)

  • Perform required touch-up or rework and coordinate with quality to resolve issues

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the paint booth, surrounding area, and equipment

  • Perform preventive maintenance: cleaning spray guns, filters, checking nozzles, etc.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines (use of PPE, handling solvents, VOC restrictions)

  • Document production data: number of units processed, paint used, rejects, downtime reasons

  • Work collaboratively with upstream and downstream operations to maintain material flow

  • Participate in continuous improvement / lean initiatives to reduce defects, waste, downtime

  • May assist training of new operators or cross-train in related areas

Qualifications / Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or coatings/paint environment preferred

  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret process documentation, work orders, and standard operating procedures

  • Strong attention to detail and quality orientation

  • Ability to lift 50–60?lbs repetitively (or as required by the line) and occasionally heavier loads

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, and work at heights (if line includes elevated components)

  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination

  • Basic math and measurement skills

  • Good communication skills, ability to work in team and follow procedures

  • Flexibility to work overtime, shift changes, or occasional weekends if needed



Preferred Candidate Experience:
  • Powder Coat Paint System experience
  • Previous paint line experience, including activities such as hanging and taking off parts
  • Forklift experience
  • Ideally, candidates who have demonstrated job stability, with no less than 2 years in a previous position
  • Flexible scheduling availability – hours are still TBD and may require some flexibility
