Gear Cutting Machinist

Target Wage range: $25 - $30+ / hour
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Gear Cutting Machinist to join a Madison Heights, MI hiring manufacturer's team. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, programming, and operation of CNC and manual equipment to produce high-quality gears. You will work with gear shaping, gear hobbing, and gear grind machines to meet precise specifications with minimal supervision. Attention to detail and expertise in gear cutting techniques are essential to ensure the production of top-notch gears.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, program, and operate gear cutting machines, including shapers, gear hobbing, and gear grind machines.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to determine gear specifications and tolerances.
- Perform gear cutting operations to achieve precise dimensions and specifications.
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure gears meet required standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with the production team to optimize manufacturing processes for efficiency and quality.
- Maintain and perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in gear cutting operations, with expertise in shaper and/or hobbing machines.
- Proficiency in layout design for gear cutting processes.
- Familiarity with CNC machinery is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Thursday (10 hours per day) 6a-4:30p
- Overtime available on Fridays and/or Saturdays, as needed.
