We are seeking an Carpenter to join a local Dubuque, IA construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for building and construction. This role involves working on various projects, including framing, installation, and finishing work. This is a direct hire opportunity meaning the right fit candidate would go directly onto the hiring company’s payroll and be eligible for the company provided benefits.
Responsibilities / Duties:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project specifications.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials.
- Construct and install building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes.
- Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, molding, and hardware.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with relevant codes and safety standards.
- Collaborate with other construction professionals to complete projects on time and within budget.
What we’d like you to bring to the opportunity:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program preferred.
- Proven working experience as a Carpenter.
- Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods, climb, pull, and lift heavy objects.
