JANITOR
LOCATION: DELHI, IA
HOURS: 3PM-11PM M-F

Job Summary:
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role includes routine cleaning, minor maintenance, and ensuring all areas of the school—such as classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and outdoor areas—are kept in excellent condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas daily.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all assigned areas.
- Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly.
- Refill soap, paper towel, and toilet paper dispensers.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs or reporting more serious issues to maintenance staff.
- Clean windows, walls, and other surfaces as needed.
- Set up rooms for meetings or school events (e.g., arranging chairs, tables).
- Ensure all cleaning equipment and supplies are used and stored safely.
- Respond to emergency clean-up situations such as spills or accidents.
- Lock and unlock doors as required; ensure security of the building during and after shift.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations and school policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning chemicals safely.
- Good physical condition; able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must pass background check and meet all school district employment requirements.
