Job Summary:
The Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials. The role requires a strong understanding of printing processes, the ability to monitor print quality, troubleshoot machinery, and ensure production timelines are met efficiently. The Press Operator will work closely with the production team to meet customer specifications and maintain a safe, productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and Operate Press: Prepare and operate various types of printing presses (offset, flexographic, digital, etc.) to meet production specifications.
  • Machine Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of printing press equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the print quality during production runs, making adjustments as necessary to ensure high-quality output that meets client and company standards.
  • Print Material Handling: Ensure that the correct paper, ink, and other materials are loaded into the press, and adjust settings based on job requirements.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the printing process, including mechanical malfunctions, quality defects, or print errors.
  • Production Monitoring: Monitor press speed, ink levels, and alignment to maintain efficiency and quality throughout production.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate production records, including quantities printed, materials used, and any issues encountered during the print run.
  • Safety: Follow all safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Report any safety concerns or equipment issues to management.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including other press operators, production managers, and maintenance personnel, to ensure smooth workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Adjustments & Calibration: Adjust printing settings and calibrate the press as required for color accuracy, registration, and other specifications.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training or certification in printing technology is a plus.
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience as a press operator or in a related role within the printing industry. Familiarity with both digital and traditional printing processes preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of printing press equipment and procedures.
    • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform basic maintenance.
    • Understanding of color management and print quality standards.
    • Good mathematical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet production targets.
    • Basic computer skills for job setup and monitoring press functions.
