Position Summary
A local Freeport employer is seeking a detail-oriented Customer Service Representative to support customers and plant operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in purchasing, scheduling, customer service, order coordination, inventory, or administrative support within a manufacturing setting. This position requires someone who is comfortable working with product information, inventory data, customer orders, schedules, and multiple priorities. The successful candidate will be able to learn product details quickly, think analytically, communicate effectively with customers and internal teams, and use sound judgment to resolve questions and coordinate day-to-day activities.
Responsibilities
- Answer inbound calls and provide professional, knowledgeable customer service
- Assist customers with questions regarding products, orders, availability, lead times, and general requests
- Develop a strong working knowledge of company products, materials, manufacturing processes, and inventory
- Enter and maintain accurate customer, order, product, and inventory information
- Assist with scheduling customer orders, production requirements, deliveries, and other plant activities
- Coordinate with purchasing, production, shipping, and other departments to help ensure customer needs are met
- Monitor inventory information and assist with identifying product or material requirements
- Review orders, schedules, inventory data, and other information for accuracy and follow up on discrepancies
- Provide administrative and operational support to the General Manager and facility team
- Maintain accurate customer and facility records, including visits, birthdays, anniversaries, safety meeting notes, and other information
- Provide backup support for billing and other facility functions
- Assist with data entry, reporting, special projects, and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, scheduling, inventory control, order management, customer service, or administrative support within a manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience working with inventory, product information, customer orders, production schedules, or material requirements
- Ability to quickly learn and understand products, processes, and manufacturing operations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and determine appropriate next steps
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a professional and helpful phone manner
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering, reviewing, and maintaining information
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with the ability to prioritize competing demands
- Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets, inventory information, and product data
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with production, purchasing, shipping, and administrative teams
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to changing priorities with a sense of urgency
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and similar software
- Dependable, organized, customer-focused, and willing to develop the product knowledge necessary to effectively support customers
