FABRICATION OPERATOR
LOCATION: FREEPORT, IL
WAGE: $19/HOUR

Position Summary:
 
This position is the starting point of the production process.  Involved in the set-up and calibration of manufacturing equipment. This position is also responsible for teaching and training junior employees on proper operation of the equipment.
 
Essential Functions:
 
  1. Mentor Fabrication Operators Level 1 and 2
  2. Set-up and calibration of manufacturing equipment
  3. Proficiently operate all fabrication equipment
  4. Fabricate components using a variety of production equipment
  5. Perform quality checks and in-process monitoring
  6. Operate HMI on machine controller
  7. Perform preventative maintenance tasks
  8. Maintain accurate records of material consumption and WIP
  9. Able to program Turrets and Laser through associated software as well as setup tooling
  10. Load racks with the steel and parts associated with each job.
  11. Adherence to all safety requirements required within this work area.
  12. Perform additional duties as deemed appropriate by the supervisor of this position. 
 
 
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
 
  1. Read and Interpret technical drawings
  2. Ability to teach and train junior employees
  3. Certified to operate PIV
  4. Read tape measure to 1/32”
  5. Able to read Micrometer and Calipers
  6. Attain expert product line knowledge.
  7. Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  8. Promote a Safe Work Environment
  9. Proficient level of skill operating business software
  10. Able to work with a team and independently.
  11. Have basic mathematical knowledge.
  12. Ability to concentrate on tasks while dealing with multiple interruptions.
  13. Possess a strong attention to detail.
  14. Ability to communicate verbally with other employees.
 
Minimum Required Experience or Education:
 
  • High School diploma or equivalent vocational school
  • Documented record of having mastered job requirements of Operator 1 and 2, plus 3 additional years of manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 4-6 years of related work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Fundamental knowledge of metal cutting and machining practices
