We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Quality to join a local Cedar Rapids manufacturing team. This key leadership position will oversee the quality management system and ensure the continued improvement of our products and processes. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards and possess a strong track record of successful people leadership. This is a direct hire opportunity. Meaning, the right fit candidate will go directly onto the hiring company’s payroll and be eligible for their full benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Quality Department, including the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the quality management system.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards, as well as other applicable regulations and customer requirements. Act as ISO: 90001 Management representative.
- Oversee internal and external audits, preparing for audits, ensuring non-conformities are addressed, and maintaining certification status.
- Drive the development of quality policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure all employees understand and uphold quality standards.
- Manage quality improvement initiatives across all departments and engage teams to drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with senior leadership to set quality goals, monitor performance metrics, and develop strategies to achieve continuous improvement.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to the quality team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
- Lead problem-solving efforts for quality issues, including root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers to ensure quality expectations are consistently met.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a quality management role within a manufacturing environment.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
- Proven success in leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen) is a plus.
- Familiarity with automotive or manufacturing quality standards is highly preferred.
