Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Machine Operator to join our recycling and refuse management team. The ideal candidate will operate machinery used in the sorting, processing, and compacting of recyclable and non-recyclable materials. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate various machines including balers, shredders, conveyors, and compactors.
- Monitor and control equipment to ensure efficient operation and minimal downtime.
- Load/unload materials onto conveyor belts or into processing machines.
- Perform regular equipment checks, basic maintenance, and report malfunctions.
- Ensure proper segregation of recyclable materials (paper, plastics, metals, etc.).
- Follow safety and environmental regulations at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
- Assist with manual sorting of waste materials as needed.
- Record production data and report to supervisors.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in waste management, recycling, or industrial machine operation preferred.
- Ability to operate forklifts, loaders, or other material-handling equipment (certification is a plus).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of machinery.
- Good physical condition; able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and overtime if required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
