MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN- MANUFACTURING
DIRECT HIRE: 1ST SHIFT
WAGE: $20-$25/HOUR
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician ensures that all equipment, machinery, and systems in a food manufacturing facility are running efficiently and safely. This role involves performing regular inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on production lines and supporting equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) on production equipment, including mixers, ovens, conveyors, packaging machines, and refrigeration units.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to identify and resolve issues.
- Monitor machinery for any signs of wear or malfunction and take immediate corrective actions.
Repairs:
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Maintain a detailed record of repairs, parts used, and time spent on maintenance tasks.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with food safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
- Adhere to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and hygiene standards while performing maintenance tasks.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and ensure the facility is in a safe operating condition.
Inventory Management:
- Manage inventory for spare parts and maintenance tools, ensuring availability of necessary components.
- Order parts and materials as needed to maintain production schedules.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and suggest changes to increase efficiency or reduce costs.
- Participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Documentation:
- Complete maintenance logs, daily reports, and any required documentation for compliance and internal record-keeping.
- Ensure proper calibration and testing of equipment as required by standards and specifications.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with production teams to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other maintenance staff on major repairs or projects.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience (X years) in a maintenance role, preferably in food manufacturing or similar industrial settings.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, GMP, and safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and automation systems.
- Familiarity with food production equipment (mixers, conveyors, packaging systems, ovens, etc.).
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes noisy environment.
