MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN- MANUFACTURING
DIRECT HIRE: 1ST SHIFT
WAGE: $20-$25/HOUR

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician ensures that all equipment, machinery, and systems in a food manufacturing facility are running efficiently and safely. This role involves performing regular inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on production lines and supporting equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Equipment Maintenance:

    • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) on production equipment, including mixers, ovens, conveyors, packaging machines, and refrigeration units.
    • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to identify and resolve issues.
    • Monitor machinery for any signs of wear or malfunction and take immediate corrective actions.
  2. Repairs:

    • Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
    • Maintain a detailed record of repairs, parts used, and time spent on maintenance tasks.
  3. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with food safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
    • Adhere to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and hygiene standards while performing maintenance tasks.
    • Assist with audits, inspections, and ensure the facility is in a safe operating condition.
  4. Inventory Management:

    • Manage inventory for spare parts and maintenance tools, ensuring availability of necessary components.
    • Order parts and materials as needed to maintain production schedules.
  5. Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and suggest changes to increase efficiency or reduce costs.
    • Participate in root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  6. Documentation:

    • Complete maintenance logs, daily reports, and any required documentation for compliance and internal record-keeping.
    • Ensure proper calibration and testing of equipment as required by standards and specifications.
  7. Collaboration:

    • Work closely with production teams to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.
    • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other maintenance staff on major repairs or projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience (X years) in a maintenance role, preferably in food manufacturing or similar industrial settings.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, GMP, and safety standards in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and automation systems.
  • Familiarity with food production equipment (mixers, conveyors, packaging systems, ovens, etc.).
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes noisy environment.
