CNC Machinist
Wage: $26-$28/hour
Location: Gays Mills, WI
Shift: 1st Shift
Position Summary:
The Senior Machinist is a highly skilled professional with 8+ years of hands-on experience in machining operations. This role is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating a variety of manual and CNC machines to fabricate precision parts. The Senior Machinist will play a key role in optimizing machining processes, maintaining tight tolerances, and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications.
- Program, set up, and operate CNC and manual machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.) for prototype and production work.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues independently to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Inspect parts using advanced measuring tools (CMM, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.).
- Suggest and implement process improvements for increased efficiency and quality.
- Train and mentor less-experienced machinists; act as a resource for technical knowledge.
- Perform preventative maintenance on machines and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure project timelines and quality expectations are met.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in machining preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in a precision machining environment.
- Proficient in CNC programming (G-code, Fanuc, Mazak, Haas, or similar controls).
- Strong knowledge of materials, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
- Ability to work from complex blueprints and GD&T symbols.
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and operate machinery for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs and handling repetitive tasks.
- Exposure to noise, lubricants, and shop environment.
