MAINTENANCE TECH
LOCATION: NE IOWA
WAGE: $25-$28/HOUR
SHIFT: 1ST
A Maintenance Mechanic / Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping manufacturing equipment, machinery, and plant facilities operating safely and efficiently through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Performing preventive maintenance on forging presses, furnaces, compressors, forklifts, cranes, cooling systems, and other production equipment.
- Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment.
- Diagnosing equipment failures and replacing defective components.
- Reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to complete repairs.
- Inspecting machinery to identify wear and prevent unexpected breakdowns.
- Maintaining building systems and supporting facility repairs when needed.
- Following all safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Documenting maintenance work and communicating equipment issues to supervisors.
- Working with production teams to minimize downtime and meet manufacturing goals.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of electrical systems (PLC experience is often preferred but may not be required).
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Physical ability to lift equipment, climb, and work around heavy machinery safely.
