Pay: Up to $36/hour

A local Iowa pavement company is seeking an experienced Truck Mechanic to join their team. This position offers a unique seasonal schedule, traveling with crews during the paving season and working locally in the Dubuque shop during the winter months.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair diesel trucks, dump trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on fleet vehicles
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and brake system issues
- Complete emergency roadside and field repairs during paving season
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
- Work closely with drivers, operators, and supervisors to minimize downtime
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Requirements
- Previous diesel mechanic or heavy truck repair experience required
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systems
- Ability to travel overnight during paving season (April–November)
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
