Title: Director of Upstream Process Development

Sedona AG Services is seeking a Director of Upstream Process Development to join a company focused on improving animal health and nutrition by providing high quality feed ingredients. Using patent-pending technologies licensed on a worldwide the Company is upgrading soybean meal to high quality ingredients used in aquaculture and other animal feeds.
What you will be doing: Director of Upstream Process Development
Supervise technical staff and direct reports by setting objectives and development plans, performance management, career development, training, mentoring, guiding, etc. Matrix management structure.
Upstream process research and development
Provide expert input into developing, optimizing, scaling-up, and validating all steps in the upstream process development
Serve as the technical project lead for the development of robust high performing upstream processes with emphasis on transferability to manufacturing.
Hands on lab work designing and executing complex experiments and projects using a wide application of complex principles, theories, and concepts.
Technical lead for Client development projects; communicates project status and effectively provides technical explanation and rationalization.
Provide strategy, vision, and direction; make decisions that establish objectives for the overall direction or operation of a significant project or area.
Design, execute, and analyze critical fermentation process development (including co product stream development) experiments to maximize understanding of microbial physiology, optimize key performance metrics, and improve fermentation sciences
Contribute to the development of new principles, concepts, and methods to enable process development, scale-up of processes to pilot scale, and technology transfer to manufacturing scale
Manage laboratory bench work to execute, optimize, and troubleshoot fermentation process operations and to oversee sale-up / technology transfer
Analyze, summarize, and present experimental results to expedite development in a collaborative team environment
Interface with multidisciplinary groups and represent fermentation process expertise at scientific and project meetings
What we need from you: Director of Upstream Process Development
Minimum of a Master's in Microbiology Chemical Engineering/ or related scientific field at least 10 years of Industry Experience (Ph.D. preferred)
Demonstrated experience taking innovations to commercial scale
Demonstrated hands-on experience and knowledge of fermentation science and biochemical engineering principles, theory, and practice, filtration experience a plus
Hands-on experience with optimization of cultivation media, aerobic fermentation process monitoring/control, and operations at varying levels of scale
Hands-on experience with microbial cultivation and aseptic techniques
Familiarity and ability to work with common fermentation laboratory equipment
Demonstrated experience in Design of Experiment principles and statistical analysis of data
Ability to work in a fermentation environment
