Full-time $16.00-$19.00 hrly
 
OVERVIEW:
Looking for a self-driven leader that can complete tasks and direct tasks as assigned, with limited oversight and support from the Paint Supervisor.
Be able to prep and paint parts, as well as large OEM equipment. This individual must be able to use cleaning solutions in a wash bay and mechanical sanding tools to prep raw steel parts for painting. Must have experience with repair, touch-up and repaint of painted parts. This position also requires that parts be masked and staged properly using a forklift and other lifting device inside a paint both. The Painter must be able to utilize several methods of primer and paint application, including but not limited to spray gun, brush and roller. Expected to maintain a safe and clean work environment, as well as use proper PPE for the job.  Must be able and willing to support in other departments if the paint department is underutilized.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
Use chemical application, chipping hammer, power tools and other abrasives to remove rust, grease, dirt, concrete, and old paint prior to paint application.
Select and mix urethane and enamel paint additives to thin or promote drying and adhesion.
Properly apply correct primers to surfaces at the correct build thicknesses for the material.
Selects paint according to company color scheme and specifications.
Apply proper paint to parts, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers to get the correct paint thickness.
Calculate amounts of required materials based on surface measurements and/or work orders.
Disassembles and clean paint equipment and cleans equipment, using solvent and wire brushes.
Clean paint booths and replace masking and air filter as required.
Use respiratory protection per safety specification for the material that is being applied.
Good working knowledge of application techniques

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED
2+ years’ experience in painting and part prep or its equivalent
Detail oriented, demonstrated high level of accuracy and to work safely.
Experience with air-assisted airless spray system a plus
