SOUS CHEF
LOCATION: DUBUQUE IA
WAGE: $25-$29/HOUR

Job Summary:
The Sous Chef is the second-in-command in the kitchen, responsible for assisting the Head Chef in all culinary operations. This role includes supervising kitchen staff, ensuring high food quality and consistency, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and safety standards, and helping with menu development, food preparation, and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented according to established recipes and standards.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, health, and safety in the kitchen.
  • Oversee inventory levels and assist with ordering and stock control.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
  • Assist in menu planning and creation, including specials and seasonal items.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards.
  • Step in to lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Monitor food costs and minimize waste.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen equipment, techniques, and operations.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
