Carpentry Apprentice

Up to $20-$25 /hour (pending work experience)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assisting with measuring, cutting, and assembling wood components for various structures
- Select and evaluate materials for potential defects
- Installing fixtures and fittings such as handles, locks, and hinges
- Cleaning work areas, organizing materials, and maintaining a safe job site
- Learning proper use and care of carpentry tools like saws, drills, planers, and levels
- Reading and interpreting designs to meet specifications set by Architects
- Work closely with an experienced carpenter, following their directions and learning best practices
- Moving from simple tasks like material handling to more complex tasks like framing walls and installing cabinetry as skills develop
- Demolition of construction material
- Wearing proper PPE
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school. Some carpentry experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Familiar with hand tools, equipment, materials, and practices of carpentry
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the construction trades
- Ability to interpret and work from penciled sketches, drawings, plans, and construction documents
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other company employees
- Reliable attendance is required
- Valid driver’s license required
