Quality Engineer (Senior Level)

A local Northeast Iowa based manufacture is seeking a Senior level Quality Engineer who will be part of a collaborative team of engineers responsible for executing the organizations Quality Management System in accordance with ISO requirements and internal strategic objectives including leading the company’s continuous improvement projects designing mechanical products and systems. The right fit candidate will have a degree in Engineering and familiarity with quality protocols and understanding of ISO requirements. This is a direct hire opportunity, meaning, the best fit candidate will go directly onto the hiring company payroll and receive their robust benefits package.
What you get to do (in a snap-shot):
- Manage all quality-related issues within the manufacturing team (e.g., internal, supplier, customer and customer warranty).
- Identify root cause and instigate permanent corrective actions for product / process quality issues.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues that arise as quickly and efficiently as possible to prevent compromising quality and safety standards.
- Stop production in the event of manufacture of unacceptable goods/processes.
- Ensure compliance and assist with adherence to the Quality Management system (ISO9001).
- Write product test procedures and Control Plans.
- Manage the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and first piece approval process.
- Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Six-Sigma and Measurement System Analysis.
- Lead quality audits.
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
What we’d like you to bring to the opportunity:
- Strong computer skills in Excel and/or Access, strong problem solving skills, good math and analytical skills.
- Experience with ISO9001
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principals
- Strong hands on abilities
- Able to explain strategic goals to direct reports while managing the tactical tasks
- Strong communication skills: Must be able to talk with both Internal and External customers
- Experience reading and interpreting dimensional drawings and industry standards
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or a science-related field or equal work experience. Other degrees may be considered as well.
- Certification courses in software such as Power Point, MS Word, Outlook and MS Excel.
