TECHNICAL WRITERS CONTRACT ROLES: 25/HOUR LOCATION: PORT ST LUCIE, FL (ONSITE) Summary:  The main function of a technical writer is to write technical materials, such as equipment materials, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions. A typical technical writer is responsible for organizing, editing and maintaining technical records and files.  Job Responsibilities:  Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology. Maintain records and files of work and revisions. Confer with client to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication. Skills:  Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills. Basic ability to work independently and manage ones time. Basic knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Basic knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods. Basic knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. Basic knowledge of computer software, such as Adobe, JavaScript, Oracle, etc.  Education/Experience:  Bachelor's degree required. Entry to 2 years of experience required. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Responsible for planning, developing, organizing, writing and editing operational, software, maintenance, test procedures and/ or manuals. May research, develop, and document technical design specifications, flowcharts, and test scripts. May participate in the user interface design. May produce electronic documentation such as CDs and online user help tools. May acquire and organize source material, including applicable specifications and technical write-ups. Follows standard practices and procedures to create technical documentation/manuals for end-users and technical staff. Under general guidance of senior staff, works with technical staff to create technical documents and develop processes and procedures documentation. Attends meetings to obtain and gather current information on project objectives, schedules, and applicable subject matter. May helps to develop and maintain an on-line knowledge base. May recommend changes to existing workflow, operations, and procedures as they relate to the efficiency and integrity of an operational unit. May recommend various procedural modifications or product enhancements. May participate in various process review meetings and technical walk-through.
